Fantasy Football Write Up Week 11

Coming down to the stretch. If you recall the previous week, a gang of 4-6 fuckbois were circling the drain with the dreaded Dolphins waiting to strike.  Only 1 of 4, Matt Moore is able to score. But the Tuna Can is not safe from the Dolphins yet. With 2 weeks left and 5 teams not safe, I went forward in time to view alternate futures. To see all the possible outcomes of the coming conflict. I saw 256* possibilities.

*Math guys check that. I count 8 “meaningful matchups”, which could affect last place. eg. JJ vs Chad wk. 13 is removed because it has no bearing on last place. This gives us a max number of possibilities at 2^8 = 256. But not all matchups are independent eg. Brent vs Todd wk.13. I don’t know how to account for those mathematically. Help would be appreciated.

That being said there are more likely outcomes than Matt getting last, which would require at least 3 teams to finish 5-6 with a Points For tie breaker to sort the trash. Let’s look at more likely scenarios. As has previously been pointed out, a strong determinant of league Wins is Points For. Last week we saw that Trav was out-winning his actual team’s strength. That didn’t hold up this week when he only sniffed the half century mark. Is he a victim of the Bye week blues or is this something greater? Brent too, has dipped below the Points For/Position line, as Todd puts up a strong showing against Max.

We are currently shaping up for an interesting Week 13 with matchups that can easily determine last place. We have been looking forward to a Brent v. Todd last place matchup but let’s not sleep on the wiser Hobbit’s matchup with the Russian Concussion. If Todd keeps his steam, he could easily outpace the rest of these low life’s in a tie breaker. See below for all remaining matchups.

Ben has mathematically secured a Bye while Chad is officially IN for playoffs, needing only one more win to clinch his Bye. The rest of the league sits at 6-5 and will be fighting for positioning and to stay in the hunt.

A Preview of the Week 13 write up:

Our 10 man-13 week league scheduling requires each team have a 2 game matchup with 4 other teams. These contests make up 8 of the 13 weeks so therefore provide a large portion of the league results. Rightfully so, the 2 game matchups hold a lot for bragging rights. A preview of the results is shown below. JJ, in green, has won both of the games against Cheadle, in red (sorry Ben). Matt and Todd, both in grey, split the series. To determine bragging rights, a total Points For is shown.

Two Game Series Results Preview

There are 20 unique matchups and a number of these will decide final rankings this season. This will be further explored after the regular season has wrapped up.
